Awards

The awards ceremony at GIJC13 takes place at the magnificent Theatro Municipal, one of the most beautiful buildings in Brazil.

The Rio conference will announce and present three major sets of international investigative journalism honors: the Global Shining Light, Daniel Pearl, and Latin American Investigative Journalism awards. Abraji will also be paying homage to pioneering Brazilian editor Marcos Sá Corrêa.

The awards ceremony takes place at the beautiful Theatro Municipal, one of Brazil’s most striking buildings, on Monday, October 14, at 7:30 pm. There will be buses from the conference venue to the Theatro.

Abraji has also arranged some extraordinary entertainment for the evening: there will be performances by virtuoso guitarist Moacyr Luz, who will bring his repertoire of samba and original compositions; and the percussion tour-de-force of children from AfroReggae, an NGO that uses music to fight the culture of violence in Brazilian favelas.

For the awards night at the Theatro Municipal, you will need a bracelet. Abraji will distribute bracelets the day of the event — at the PUC, in the shuttle buses to the Theatro, and in the Theatro.
